 Want Fresh Air but not the Energy Bills look at a Heat Recovery System  Each manufacturer uses a different method but basically we can call it a heat transfer module. Both the exhausted air and the outdoor air passes through this module at the same time and in the winter the heat from the exhausted air from your home is used to pre-heat the outdoor air. In the summer the process is much the same but the heat is transferred from the outdoor fresh air to the exhausted air which pre-cools the incoming fresh outdoor air. |

With the flu season upon us all and giving respect to those among us that have children in school, we all know what that means… Just that many more germs floating around in the home. Your furnace is really not anything like your other appliances in your home. Most people treat their heating and cooling systems as if they are an appliance and that is an unfortunate and expensive mistake. All heating and cooling systems, both residential and commercial, are large consumers of electricity, natural gas and in some cases fuel oil or propane. They also generate a considerable amount of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.
What must be noted for these systems is that they do have an appreciable loss of both efficiency and capacity below about 40 degrees. For this reason the Air to Air Heat Pumps require an additional heat source usually provided by back up electric heat from an electric heating furnace or in the case of a dual fuel or hybrid system a gas furnace is used and as can be seen from the charts this option appears to be the best...
