Simple Explanation of how your Air Conditioning system works... A standard central air conditioning system is a split system, it has an outdoor unit usually called the condenser or air conditioning unit and an indoor coil, which is usually installed either at the top or bottom of the furnace or air handler in the home.Using electrical power the compressor pumps the refrigerant through the system to absorb heat and remove moisture from indoor air, it then transfers the heat to the outdoors through the air conditioning unit coil with the condenser fan.
The heat is removed from the air as the warm air from inside the home is blown across the cold indoor coil. The heat in the air transfers to the refrigerant, thereby "cooling" the air.
The moisture is removed from the air as the warm air from inside the home is blown across the cold indoor coil and the moisture condenses onto the coil much like a cold pop can makes water on it's surface. This moisture is then drained from the condensate pan to the outdoors.
