Green Energy Saving Measures Low Cost

Low Cost Energy Saving Measures

  • Clean furnace filters monthly. Dirty filters restrict airflow and increase energy use. Keep the furnace clean, lubricated and properly adjusted to save up to 5% of heating costs. Have your heating and cooling system professionally maintained by Ameri-Serv, Inc.
  • Install an ENERGY STAR programmable thermostat away from natural cool and hot spots. An ENERGY STAR thermostat can save as much as $115 per year, provide more flexibility than standard models and perform one or more of the following functions: Save and repeat multiple daily settings, which you can change when needed without affecting the rest of the daily or weekly program; store four or more temperature settings a day; and adjust heating or air conditioning turn-on times as the outside temperature changes.
  • Have you ducts checked for leaks and improper insulation, this can save hundreds per year on your utility bills and is well worth having your home's system inspected by Ameri-Serv, Inc. to make sure you're not heating or cooling your crawl space or attic.
  • Limit the amount of time that you run bathroom exhaust fans and kitchen hood exhaust fans as these fans remove the work already performed by your heating and cooling system. On restroom exhaust fans it helps to install timed switches or occupancy sensor switches on these circuits so that the fans automatically turn back off.
