In today's real estate market many homes are standing vacant for months at a time. With freezing conditions fast approaching these homes must be winterized to prevent broken pipes and the extensive damage that those broken pipes will cause.

At Ameri-Serv we provide several options to help assure that damage is not realized, from complete winterization to simple heating system inspections. We can also change the thermostat in the home to a model that will heat only under emergency conditions when temperatures reach below 40 degrees.

Complete winterization shutdown includes:
1. Shut off water at the house main valve or street connection.
2. Blowing water out of domestic water pipes using compressed air.
3. Draining toilet tanks and filling bowl with food grade antifreeze.
4. Secure and drain water heater, tag electrical
5. Replacing water in drain traps with food grade antifreeze.
6. Shut off natural gas at the meter.
7. Shut off electrical at the main breaker.
8. Assuring the house is secure and reporting any apparent damage.


Heating System Inspection Includes:
1. Inspect system components reporting on any found to be defective or that are approaching the expected lifetime.
2. Inspect System Operation assuring that all vents are open and filter is clean.
3. Setting thermostat to it's lowest setting possible.
4. Assuring the house is secure and reporting any apparent damage.
